How hard is it to change a water-pump on a 2001 Silverado V-8?

It has a small leak that started this day and it has 60000 miles on it , also new or rebuilt . What is the appr. cost to

have a shop do it ?How hard is it to change a water-pump on a 2001 Silverado V-8?
If your engine is a 5.3L, then these are it. May be similar to the other v-8's as well. Also says about 2 hours to do it. Course that'd be mechanic time.

Water Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

Drain the cooling system.

Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the following locations:

Throttle body

Mass airflow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor

Remove the radiator inlet hose clip from the outlet duct.

Fill the cooling system. How hard is it to change a water-pump on a 2001 Silverado V-8?
probably not that hard but if you want the best result take it to a shop. but if they dont do good you can always thke them to court lol
its not that hard, but you will need special tool to hold pulley and wrench to loosen fan clutch, just so you will know.
Question i have David is how mechanically inclined are you and a water pump is a mild intermediate job for a professional the book says 3.5 hours time plus parts
Its not hard at all but you do have to have that special tool which is around $60.00. But if you are crafty you can make your own, easily. Don't go for a rebuilt one get a new own. Make sure that it is level before putting it on. We put one on my Z71 and found out it was slightly warped and had to go exchange it after trying to get it tight enough and never could.
