How to change water pump on a 1998 dodge ram 5.2L?
I can tell you this much it will take a lot of LABOR COSTS...that is if you are gonna use a service provider or the infamous shade tree mechanic(bottle of wine)

This is about as close as you will come to a 10 minute job. It is right up there and almost nothing holding it on. Use a Chilton's.
not difficult at all! you can handle it! Take the 8 bolts off old water pump and pull the 2 radiator hoses off and replace with new one.
Also make sure you put a new gasket on it. and it is completly sealed up when you put the new on. Becuse if not many problems will happen.
the degree of difficulty depend,s on the degree of experience you have ..but most of what your referring to are simple fix,s...if you are inexperienced then you can in-list the help of a good auto repair manual such as chilton,s , motor,s or Haynes....it,s good that you are at least willing to try...these manual,s will give you step by step direction,s so that failure will not be a problem...good luck!gray hair good dancer give me advice

my pump went out and i can't afford to have it fixed at a shop.How do you change a water pump on a 1993 nissan quest?
Drain coolant from radiator and cylinder block.
Remove drive belts.
Remove crank pulley.
Remove timing belt covers. Note: It is not necessary to loosen or remove the timing belt during water pump service.
CAUTION: When removing water pump assembly, be careful not to get coolant on timing belt.
Remove water pump.
INSPECTION
Check body assembly and vane for rust or corrosion.
Check for rough operation due to excessive end play.
NOTE: Water pump cannot be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit.
INSTALLATION
Use a scraper to remove old liquid gasket from water pump.
Also remove old liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block.
Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket to mating surface of water pump.
Use Genuine Liquid Gasket or equivalent.
Install water pump.
Install remaining parts in reverse order of removal.
Install drive belts.
Refill engine coolant.
After installation, run engine for a few minutes, and check for leaks.

My guess would be most of your time will be spent lying on the ground....
then buy a new one and get your self some tools and a repair manual at autoparts store not much to it once you see what it looks like you start removing parts that are in way til you can take it off clean the old gasket off well and but some blue selicone put on new gasket and put on new pump tighten it put back on all the parts you remove fill radiator start check for leaks should be able to do it on the weekend about three to four hours or lless... any of these will help all about the same as the other but it will give you a better ideal of how to do it and your sure to learn more about your car so doing it would be best not only you learn but you save money too... not hard to replace most parts hard part is knowing what is wrong to replace it so you got the hard part done knowing what is wrong

Remove the water hoses.
Remove the waterpump bolts.
Remove the water pump.
Installation is the reverse with the addition of cleaning the mating surfaces and applying silicon sealant.

Kind of unusual to need a radiator on a Passat. Water pumps are a real problem on VW. Most shops will want to change out the T-belt when replacing the pump. Typical price for T-belt, water pump, job runs in the $800 to $1000 range. That would include the oil seals and antifreeze. Thermostats do go bad, radiators can go bad, but if you are just having an overheat issue, they may not be necessary.
