I need to know how to change the water pump in my 1987 bmw 325i any info will be helpful...?

Well...Need to drain the Coolant out of the radiator...Take off the Radiator hoses. Unbolt the water pump, clean and install new gasket, bolt on the new pump, reinstall the hoses and refill the coolant. You may or may not have to remove the radiator and other various pieces of the car to access the water pump on this car. I have never driven BMW due to the excruciatingly high repair costs...so I have never even looked under the hood on one of these. But the concept is the same on all vehicles. You should be able to buy a Chilton Manual at the parts store with Step by Step directions and lots of pictures. Good Luck! By the Way...Ur really cute! Cant you coerce a man to just do this for you? Most men I know will do about anything a pretty lady asks them to...It is in our nature to try to rescue the damsel in distress!I need to know how to change the water pump in my 1987 bmw 325i any info will be helpful...?
Sorry not a BMW mech, but I can tell you this it's not an easy job. I think that if you can afford the car unless it was a gift, get prepared to send this car to the shop. Guarantees, and warranties, are given to the car for a reason. Fix it Sell it and get a car you can afford!I need to know how to change the water pump in my 1987 bmw 325i any info will be helpful...?

How to know what kind of water pump my D16Z6 Honda Engine has, as well as how to change it.?

I have a 94 Civic EX with a D16Z6 engine, need to change the water pump, but not sure which one it has, I have seen 2 types, the internal (inside the timing housing) and regular hooked up to the belts, not sure which one I have and how to change it, the internal one, the outside one is straight forward. How to know what kind of water pump my D16Z6 Honda Engine has, as well as how to change it.?
here is a link to changing a water pump. i assume it is the same for all the civics, under the timing belt cover. be aware that getting the crank pulley off is very difficult. it is on with incredible torque. i just did one on a civic similar to yours but i am not sure of the year. i used a 1/2 drive with a 20'; extension to get to it. i also used a six foot pipe on the end of my wrench to get enough torque to break it free. u also need to find a way to keep the engine from turning while trying to break free the bolt. some hondas have a hexagonal insert in the crank pulley which allows you to use a special tool available on amazon.com. others have a crank pulley with holes in it that need another tool to hold it still which i do not know where to find. drop me a line if u need any further help.

  • How do you change water in a water cooled PC?

What is the safest method of removing all the water in a water pump in order to refill it with a fresh mix. Please no answers saying ';why would you do that?'; or ';you do not need to change that ever';.

Thank YouHow do you change water in a water cooled PC?
Simply purge your system. Have 2 buckets - one full of clean water, the other empty, disconnect and drain your reservoir, then stick the intake hose into the full bucket, the exhaust hose into the empty one, and turn the pump on. Flush the entire bucket full of water through the system, then refill your reservoir and purge the air out of the system like when you built it the first time.

Can anyone show me with a picture how to change the water pump on a 1996 dodge grand caravan 3.3L?

I need to know (with a picture or diagram if possible) how to change the water pump on a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L. My neighbor has offered to change it for me, but wants a detailed diagram of the inside of the vehicle before he gets started so that he doesn't mess with anything that he really doesn't have to. I agree but can't seem to find any pictures or diagrams of how to remove the water pump. Can anyone help or offer any suggestions? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Can anyone show me with a picture how to change the water pump on a 1996 dodge grand caravan 3.3L?
no diagram but you need to pull the right front wheel ,remove the plastic cover {3 bolts 10 mm} loosen the 3 13mm water pump pulley bolts, then loosen the belt ,the tensioner bolt is a 15 mm,take off the pulley remove 5 10 mm bolts from pump remove pump install is opposite just changed mine on monday it took about 45 minutes really easyCan anyone show me with a picture how to change the water pump on a 1996 dodge grand caravan 3.3L?
sorry but if you need a picture of water pump maybe you might want to get someone else ... to remove the pump is not that hard only a few bolts but removing some of the other parts that are in the way of it the only hard part of any water pump change.. if you have the new one on hand you can pretty much guess to where and how it goes on
that is nice of ur neighbor to offer. Its in the front of engine...pretty straight forward.
he,ll need a good repair manual to get actual details on how to change this if he hasn't ever changed one on a caravan before it would be a real good idea for you to purchase a repair manual, even though he,s offering to do this for free,he will need all the information he can get on doing this and a repair manual will offer him pictures as well as good instructions on doing it,good luck.

Is the water pump leaking from the weep hole?? If not then it most likely not the problem. You may need to be looking at the radiator. Is it clogged up with dirt, leaves or other debris? You say you have changed the fan motor. I take take it is electric, if it is running and the water pump does not leak then check the radiator.
I doubt you're going to get anyone to give u a good step by step answer. You could buy a Haynes car repair manual at the auto parts store. They do a decent job of step by step.

Did you check to see if the pump is pumping? Leave off the radiator cap and run the engine. When it reaches operating temperature the coolant in the radiator should start to move indicating the pump is moving the coolant thru the engine block.

PeeWee is right about the weep hole. Not leaking, probably not the pump.

simple: goto your nearest auto repair shop. Don't try to do anything yourself. especially those tauras
Remove the passenger side tire and get at it from the bottom. You need a pulley remover, you can rent it at Autozone. Remove the belt, etc, etc, etc. Get a Hanes manual at your local parts store for an idea of what you need to do before you start doing anything. Most people go to a mechanic because it is a LOT of very hard work.
Loosen the bolt, swap it with a new pump and tighten the bolt.

Your best bet would be to go to your local auto parts store and buy a Chiltons repair manual, not a Haynes manual. It costs about $20 and is well worth the investment for the DIY'er.

the tensioner deal on the serpentine belt kind of makes me nervousHow is the best way to change a water pump on a '98 caravan 3.3 liter engine?
The serpentine belt tensioner is not hard to deal with. They make a tool that makes it easy to move it, to allow the belt to be taken off.

The water pump itself is located in the front of the engine, near the bottom. The best way to gain access to it is to remove the left front wheel, and the inner fender liner. Remove the pulley, and the pump itself is held in with bolts. These bolts are very thin, and if you are not careful you can break them off in the housing. That will require the bolts to be drilled out, so you want to avoid that if possible. There is limited room to get a drill in.

If you are not comfortable with the belt, you really may want to consider paying a shop to change the water pump. If they break a bolt or three, they have to do the drilling and tapping at no additional charge.

I work on my own cars. I pay to have the 3.3 water pump replaced, because over half of them have the bolts break.

$500 or so sounds about right.
you could call a auto parts store and ask for price of part and try a local shop for prices to fix id call three places should be 40/80 buck range possible to fix your self maybe

I have a 94 nissan maxima I changed water pump thermostat, all belts hoses clamps, still overheating any help?

radiator was replaced with used one, not currently leaking.

have driven far enough to see how hot engine will get but does not currently smoke or boil water.needle is pegging near red zone.I have a 94 nissan maxima I changed water pump thermostat, all belts hoses clamps, still overheating any help?
Are u sure that the used radiator you replaced the old one with is not clogged? Also did you back flush the engine? If it is a radiator issue the best way is order a new one from any of the popular auto parts stores, a lot of after market radiators are just as good or better than factory parts and considerably cheaper too. And always use coolant (anti freeze). Also check the ignition timing, retarded timing can cause overheating. Check the sensing unit for the temp. gauge and check to make sure that the radiator fan is working. Good luck and good hunting!I have a 94 nissan maxima I changed water pump thermostat, all belts hoses clamps, still overheating any help?
Replace the radialto with a good one
check the juice in your radiator. (otherwise dang. you must love that car.)
    try flushing the radiator.
start the engine and run it a while. coolant leaves the engine through lower radiator hose. enters through upper hose.

cold lower hose hot upper hose = no flow thermostat function or plugged radiator.
see if your radiator fan is spinning it will not spin as soon as you start your car fan should kick on around 180 degrees if not wire your fan straight to the battery and see if its spins if not you need a new fan
you did not mention any thing about having the radiator cleaned. or checking the temp. sending unit.???
radiator could still be bad or a blocked water jacket
    Your timing OK?
Could be the temp guage, check the radiator cap, blown head gasket, check the electric fan and sensor/resistors.

It could just be boogered on there really good from corrosion. Have you tried PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst? It is an AMAZING rust breaker, much better than WD-40 (which is just a lubicant).
you need to take off anthing in your way then use a tool a weel puller
try using a flat style puller like a steering wheel puller they don't need as much room as a three jaw pulley puller

I have a 2002 mitsubishi galant (4 cylinder). It has about 82,400 miles on it and I am in need of a water pump and timing belt. I want to save the most money and is wanting some suggestions on how to do so. Thank you! What is the cheapest way for me to get my timing belt and water pump changed?
Depends where you are. What is the cheapest way for me to get my timing belt and water pump changed?
go to a few mechanic,s get estimate
Go to a high school or vocational school and have it changed. They usually charge less than half of the price of a garage. Try word of mouth or spread the word around your church you need a mechanic.
Get a service manual, read about it, do it your self. That's the cheapest way to do it.
Well, if you know what you're doing, then do it yourself. If there's someone close to you who is a mechanic, then have them do it. Otherwise, your only option is to bring it to a mechanic. You can probably shop around and get some estimates on how much it will cost.

How to change the water pump of a 1988 rx7?

Changing a waterpump on an RX-7 is much easier than a piston engine because its an external pump. On a piston engine you usually have to take the timing belt and crap off to get to it so people say its a big hard job, but on a rotary its very simple.

First, find the water pump by following the two big radiator hoses, the thing that they both connect to is the waterpump. Its on top of the front cover and a bit left-ish.

Start by removing the fan and fan shroud to make space. Then remove the belts on the pulleys. Remove the alternator (on top of the engine) and set it aside.

From here there are two options (your question is a bit vague). If you are just replacing the pump itself with a new one from an autoparts store or something, you can go ahead and unbolt the pump and put on the new one (with a new gasket!). You have to b a bit careful though. unbolt all the bolts on the front of the waterpump, but be careful only to slide pump itself away from the housing. If you pull the waterpump housing away from the engine, you have to change the rear gasket also.

There might be a bolt that holds the housing to the engine without holding the pump to the housing, but i forget, so just be aware.

If you are removing the whole pump and housing (or tore that rear housing gasket), you have to take off the crankshaft pulley, so keep reading.

Remove the four little bolts around the outside and slide the pulley off. Keep in mind this pulley will only go back on one way, so mark it if you want to remember how it goes, otherwise keep turning it 90 degrees until it fits back on. This will make sure your timing marks stay in the right place.

Then you can unbolt the waterpump, and re-bolt in the new one. make sure you get use new gaskets, and while your there it might not be a bad idea to get a new thermostat as well.

I hope theres nothing I forgot, but it's straightforward. Find the waterpump, move the crap in your way, and re-assemble. good luck! How to change the water pump of a 1988 rx7?
all you have to do is lift the back hatch life up the carpet and there is like 10 screws holding the fuel pump down you pull that out put the new one in and put screws back in basically thats all i had to do it when i converted my na to a turbo engine

I'm trying to change my water pump on an 88 honda crx b16a engine how do i do it?

its kinda ghetto rigged and i'm getting it up to speedI'm trying to change my water pump on an 88 honda crx b16a engine how do i do it?
Ok. that engine does not belong in the car so most of the shop manual isn't going to tell you how to do it.

You need shop manual that covers B16A - Civic SI engine. Is different because it uses duel cam. For this engine, the water pump is driven by the timing belt. So the timing belt must be take out. The most painful part of the process is to take the crankshaft pulley bolt out. You are going to need a honda special tool or one heck of powerful impact wrench.

The duel cam timing belt alignment point is difficult to see. You should use some type of cam locking device. I would least get the snap on sing pin cam locking tool ($15 - 20 each) and get Y shaped cam holder if you want to replace the oil seals.I'm trying to change my water pump on an 88 honda crx b16a engine how do i do it?
    buy a haynes manual
you need to take the timing cover off take the timing belt off and then take the water pump off
You'll have to loosen the crank nut, take the pulley off and the timing belt off. There will likely be a cover over the belt and pulleys, just unbolt that. Your water pump will be in there. Replace the pump with the new one, along with a new timing belt. Make sure to set the valve timing correctly. I'd advice a Haynes or Chilton manual, if not a better shop manual.

You will either need a powerful impact wrench, or some way to hold the crank stationary, and a big huge breaker bar to loosen the crank nut. They are said to be a pain in the rear, although I haven't changed my timing belt yet.
Dinnit that come w/ a D engine? If so you may have to take the engine out to change it.

  • Help.. how do I change the water pump?

I have a 95 honda civic and I just got a new water pump. I need to know how to change it. I have an engine lift, I just want to know if the is an easier way?Help.. how do I change the water pump?
I had a 98 civic I did one on... The water pump runs off of the timing belt, so yea its a lot of work. You are going to have to remove an engine mount (pass side) support the engine with a jack and remove alot of the covers on the passenger side of the engine. I would suggest you get a repair manual at the auto parts store, probably the best $20 you'll spend (and more then I can cover here).

Since you are in there, I would do the timing belt and the timing belt tensioner. Be careful not to turn the overhead camshaft when you have everything apart or you will have to set your cam timing again.

Good luck, its probably a 7 out of 10.Help.. how do I change the water pump?
remove the drivebelt. remove the pipes off the existing water pump, then unbolt it. bolt the new one on and replace the drivebelt, remembering to tension is so that it isnt slack
the easiest way is to have some one else do it//if you finally end up doing it yourself dont forget to change t/stat at same time
Water pump on that car is behind timing belt . Get a good manual and read up on it . Also , be sure and change seals . There is one right there that some times will just start leaking . Use to manage a repair shop and we did a ton of those cars . Not a bad idea to change timing belt as you will have it off anyway . Also check out the tensioners while your there .

Do I need to change the cambelt if the water pump needs changing on my Fiesta 1.4 zetec 2004 reg?

I was told by ford that my water pump may be the noise I hear when the car engine is warm and then a chugging/squealing noise starts in that area- only in slow traffic or when the car is at a stand still. I have no leaking and the temp is in normal but the noise drives me crazy and is probably a warning. Ford reckons they need to take cambelt off to change the water pump?is this correct? also how much should I expect to pay to have the water pump and cambelt done? Ford quoted 拢520!!! HELPPPPPP!!Do I need to change the cambelt if the water pump needs changing on my Fiesta 1.4 zetec 2004 reg?
Hello. to answer your question, I would certainly get the belt changed, at the same time as you change the water-pump, as you need to remove the belt anyway, as it is a good thing to have a nice reliable new belt on there, especially if you are unsure of its condition.

拢520 sounds very steep indeed, I would expect that kind of price to change a head gasket. I would look into changing it yourself. I had a Escort GTI which has the 1.8 silver-top zetec engine in it, and with some help you can easily change the timing belt on your driveway. make sure you purchase the cam locking kit, but this is in essence a 5mm bit of steel that will set u back about 拢5 from motorserv.

If your not mechanically minded, then I would at the very least get it checked at a garage, don't tell them to change anything until you are 100% sure what the problem is. Maybe you have some friends who tinker with cars, perhaps they can assist you cheaper than a garage?

But yes, if you are going to the lengths to remove the pump and replace it, you should really renew the timing belt too, as you need to take it off to gain access to the pump.

Also if its a squeeling noise, it may be the alternator belt slipping.Do I need to change the cambelt if the water pump needs changing on my Fiesta 1.4 zetec 2004 reg?
Yes they are correct and it would be false economy not to do the cambelt while it is all apart. It could be, as happened to me once, the pump has damaged the old belt anyway.

Get a quote from a local independent, none franchised dealer, and the cost could be half of what a Ford dealer wants.

You really do have to get the belt done.
I'd agree it makes sense to change the belt anyway, then you know it's been done. I'd also change the tensioner and other belt(s) while you're at it. Maybe unnecessary but you'll then have the confidence that everything at that end of the engine is new. I would, though, go to at least one other garage for an opinion and a quote.
Yes change that belt 250.00 U.S. is about average cost
the cam belt should be changed at intervals, unless they just recommend it is done while its in being worked at, and its due... there is no reason to change it....

Unless you are confusing the drive belt (auxilliary) which drives the water pump, power steering pump etc, that is most likely what is making noise and should be changed.

Where is the water pump located on a 1999 cadillac deville?

how much would they charge me to change a water pump on my 1999 cadillac devilleWhere is the water pump located on a 1999 cadillac deville?
They always change the water pump and timing belt together while the engine is apart. Your 1999 is probably due for both things if they have not been done. I just had mine done on a Toyota Camry. It cost a thousand dollars. Remember that these two things NEED to be changed every so often..if either the water pump, or timing belt go while you are driving..your car will die right there on the freeway...even if you are going 80 MPH.Where is the water pump located on a 1999 cadillac deville?
2 or 3 hours of labor

depends on the shops labor rate

if it is a northstar it is on the drivers front of the engine by the rad hose (inside the crossoverpipe)

or if it is the older engine it is on the pass side side by the drive belt (thin and long)

Would yo uuse a Chemical Flush, or Radiator Conditioner, before changing hte Water Pump?

At this point, i think i should use the Radiator Conditioner.. BEFORE i change Water Pump, of course.. im wondering what ';Priming'; a Cooling System means. Seems the white ';Froth'; i saw, indicative of Cavitation, needs to be remedied.. so i can either:

    1) Flush System with Chemical Flush, Run Water Through, Repeat (I can do Radiator, then engine, it will all be off anyways for Water Pump...)

    2) Put ';Conditioner'; in there and then refill with Coolant; OR

    3) use ';Blue Devil'; or something, and then do the same.

I ';Flushed'; it roughly 5000 miles ago, letting water run through and exit the Upper Radiator Hose. until it ran ';Clear'; but i never took the Lower Hose off, as i cant get to it.

So, i ';topped Off'; the Cooling system too, and my car ONLY has an Expansion Tank to add.. it is the ';Radiator Cap'; i suppose you could say...

If you were me, how would yo uSABE mY Cooling System? Water Pump will be Replace.d. What do i do BEFORE? Do i 1) FLUSH, OR 2) ';Condition'; to perhaps Coat something that is wearing Thin, or 3) ';Blue Devil'; to be on the Safe side, THEN Refill?

I need help with installing a water pump on my Ford F150 pickup truck?

I have a 1990 Ford F150 pickup truck and I need some help with the installation of a water pump. The engine is a 4.9 straight 6 cylinder. Can anyone tell me how to change the water pump and how hard is it to do.. Any help would be appreciated..I need help with installing a water pump on my Ford F150 pickup truck?
here is a website that will help you.I need help with installing a water pump on my Ford F150 pickup truck?
You might want to take the fan off to make it much easier to work on. I don't think it's hard, just time consuming. Line the bolts up as you take them off that way you know how they go back on. Make sure you get all of the old gasket off and use a good tacky adhesive to put the new gasket on.
Get a manual from local parts store for truck. About $15.00.
You will need to remove the fan first I think the bolt are on the inside they are a pain but it can be don , Remove belts and R/R water pump clean surface with putty knife or small wire brush put gasket on pump with permeates both sides and install good luck hope this helps.
Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton repair manual at Autozone, Pep boys, etc.

Make sure you clean the old gasket material completely off the block before you mount the new pump. If not, you'll leak and have to do it all over again.
if you are going to get a manual get a Chilton manual they are better. Haynes has bought Chilton but you can still get Chilton's manuals through Napa auto parts stores

Does anyone know how to change a water pump on a benz 190e?

Which 190E? The 2.3, 2.3-16 valve, or the 2.6? The 2.6 is the most difficult due to the lack of space but there are way too many steps ( and torque specifications ) to list them all out here. Get yourself a repair manual and follow it step-by-step. Personally, I'd recommend a Benz CD-ROM repair manual but Haynes also has a book available for the 190E which is much cheaper.Does anyone know how to change a water pump on a benz 190e?
unless you are pretty good at car repairs, Id find a shop to do for you. Get out your manual it will give you the specs for torque .. you need to remove radiator, fan belts to even get to it and its not any harder then most cars.

If you have a mercedes repair manual some auto parts stores carry them.

good luckDoes anyone know how to change a water pump on a benz 190e?
Look here. If you can afford A Mercedes you should take it the the shop. You know how fickled German cars are. (smile)
Remove the radiator and fan. The rest is then not too difficult if you are following the repair manual.
It's easy, just a matter of nuts and bolts. Be sure to replace the thermostat and bypass hose while you're there.

well the water pump is 75 new but the mechanic will charge double so your at 150. This is standard paractice. The labor will be 3 hrs. At 65 thats 195+ 75=270, so take 300 and hope for a 2 hr. labor charge. Id Tell the mechanic you will give him 20 bucks if he can have it ready in an hr.A good mechanic can have that pump changed in 35 minutes if the part is there. If you have time and some some small tools go get the haynes manual on your car and save 250 this is not as hard as you may think. How much should it cost to change the water pump on a 93 ford probe GT 5-spd?

I'm going to assume that you meant 4.6l v-8. On the whole this is not a difficult repair if you have any mechanical experience at all. To do a step by step instruction would take up to much space here. I recommend purchasing a repair manual from your local parts store that outlines the repair. The library also should have these for you to reference. I would rate the job a 2 on the difficulty scale. Be SURE to get the CORRECT repl. pump for the car and BE PATIENT when removing the old one. 99% of these are stuck in place and need careful persuasion for removal as not to do any damage.Happy wrenching and let us know how it turns out.How do i change a water pump?

On LS engines the coolant flow is reversed the water pump bolts directly on front of the engine and is driven with a shaft fron the timing cover that also runs the distributer so after you turn the plastic drain plug 1/4 turn and pull away from the radatatior the draining should start there is the rubber intake boot remove it set it aside Four or five bolts and the pump is yours However if you have 75,000 or more miles do distributer cap and rotor while you are there if you pull the ends off of the plug wires do them too ready for a challenge change the spark plugs? Really not the kind of car to do your first water pump on.

Do u have to change the water pump, belt , etc around 100 000 miles in a 2001 civic and how much does it cost?

i have a 2001 civic and a guy at express lube told me ill need to change the timing belt and some pump and a couple other things and they would do it for around 500 dollars i dont know much does this sound right? Thanks for the helpDo u have to change the water pump, belt , etc around 100 000 miles in a 2001 civic and how much does it cost?
Under normal conditions, replace the timing belt at intervals

of 110,000 miles or every 84 months.

If the vehicle is operated at ambient temperatures

under 20掳F or above 110掳F, replace at 60,000 mile

    intervals.

    Parts: $19 - $28

    Timing Belt

    Labor: $227 - $289

    http://repairpal.com/estimator/results

It sounds a little high to me! you can call other shops and ask for an estimate, ask everyone you know for recommendations or ask at some of the auto parts stores for a recommendation for a good honest mechanic!

other items that may be changed at this time are the other drive belts, water pump belt, alternator belt, ect, but this should not add much to the cost because they need to come off anyhow to get to the timing belt! Water pump should not need changed unless it is bad!Do u have to change the water pump, belt , etc around 100 000 miles in a 2001 civic and how much does it cost?
it sounds about right and very late actually, honda recommends that be done at 80,000 miles. you could do it your self, but if you have no experience do not risk it.
You should check your owner's manual for Honda's mileage recommendation. Your timing belt may suggest around 90,000 to 100,000 depending on driving conditions. A new timing belt is about $35 from your local auto parts store.

Although the timing belt wraps around the water pump pulley, the water pump should be inspected first not replaced without a reason.

If there are traces of coolant leaking behind the pulley, the water pump should be replaced ($40 from your local auto parts store). If there are traces of coolant leaking along the edges of the water pump gasket, only water pump gasket should be replaced (just $4 from your local auto parts store).

Since it is more difficult to determine the condition of the timing belt tensioner, it may be a good idea to replace the timing belt tensioner ($60 from your local auto parts store) .

If express lube charges $500 for this job, then they're pocketing about $365 for labor. I would consider $150 labor charge more reasonable.

    http://www.hondacivicrepairs.com/timing_

If you save yourself money and buy these parts yourself, the rest is labor charge if you don't have the tools. Shop around for the best shop on installation cost.

    Good luck!

Changing water pump on 2.4L Sunfire?

My car needs a new water pump, obviously.

How long of a job do you think I'm getting myself into? I don't want to take it to a garage unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. My boyfriend and I both have very good knowledge on vehicles, and I am pretty certain the 2 of us can do it ourselves.

It's a 2.4L, and from what I've read the pump is much harder to change in this than a 2.2L. How long do you think it will take, assuming we have all of the correct tools?Changing water pump on 2.4L Sunfire?
that's the quad four engine. i've seen mechanics have difficulty replacing them. you have to take down the timing chain to change the water pump. i would strongly reccomend that you take it to a pro. Its not a job for just anyone with some auto knowledge. And you're looking at paying 700- 800 dollars at a shop. people don't realize this when they buy a quad 4 engine. they're gr8 until you have to fix them.Changing water pump on 2.4L Sunfire?
Ok tools is not the problem on this one. I ihgly reccommend taking this one to a shop. I know Master Technicians that hate doing this job. If I'm not mistaken that one is ran by the timing chain. That is one of the HARDEST water pumps that we have ever ran into. I know the time is off but I'm wanting to say that one was a 8-9 hr. job as far as tech time. Which means most anyone that isn't familar with that will probaly double. Besides you're playing with the chain and that is no joke. A lot of shops will even turn down that one. It's the 2.4 Quad. One of the worth designs for engine repair GM ever came up with. Good Luck! and be careful!
